KDE Conf just wants to *talk* about going full A slop desktop

@zzt @kde @davidgerard what I don’t understand about that statement, is people DO actively choose KDE because it is the best DE for many people. Forcing AI into it would mean an exodus of those same people and the project would die.
I’ve no idea why KDE would even entertain such nonsense at their own *official* conference, and it actively harms the project and brand.
Sometimes there aren’t two sides to an issue, this is one of those times.
If they want software they can talk to and befriend, in lieu of people, sure, no judgement. Go make it.
Maybe though, the desktop environment isn’t the platform for it… that’s kind of a major pivot. And KDE is associated with it. After all they must have accepted the RFP and thought “yeah, great idea, crack on”.
@ADHDruid @zzt @kde @davidgerard I picked KDE for it's the one I hate the least, no enforced CSD, buttons in the wrong order (sure it's in the wrong order on the title bar, but at least I can move the close button to the left side of the title bar and keep the others on the right side), bake in LLM then I will look for another desktop without a random text generator or maybe go back to #CTWM

KDE is the only DE that i like using and not actively despise (fuck you new GNOME i hate your design philosophy with every fibre of my being) and I've been using it for years.
If they go slop mode I don't know what I will do, XFCE is too simple and I had mixed results of using it on modern PC's, Cinnamon? was buggy on my setup last time I checked...
I wonder if Sway has anti-AI policy

@davidgerard Eh. They want a discussion about it and invite ppl to tear their idea apart (and I'm sure it will be). And even if they do implement it at some point, I'm sure we can all easily disable the crap in true KDE fashion. I'm more worried about the Gnomification of the UI in terms of removing features, like the KDE community suggested.

Right now you have to think of the Nazi bar problem and what's going on out there.
Be the bartender with the baseball bat. Don't... and I can't emphasize this enough... DON'T... let any "AI bro" in the door.

it’s extremely easy to use conference attendance for astroturfing. suddenly you’ve got all these names you’ve never seen before demanding you move in a particular direction. now you’ve got to prove that all these people are here in bad faith. but how could they be? they attended one specific talk at your conference because they smelled blood and money in the water. who are you to tell them they aren’t part of KDE?
and you won’t tell them they aren’t part of KDE, because you’re reading this thinking I’m theorycrafting instead of recounting what keeps happening
