@zzt @davidgerard Yeah I'm not quite down with the @jwz Lucid era emacs-as-operating-system thing having always been a vim (now vim-classic) person. But KDE was the last kosher FLOSS desktop environment to me, GNOME has never appealed to me and I always sought to get rid of it. Even 2014 era MacOS X seems unbearable now. I'm reduced to using an unpatched (apart from ExplorerPatcher and other niknaks) Win11 kickabout laptop with a dead battery which never leaves the house, from which I evicted WSL2 months ago, and hosts ssh sessions to my FreeBSD and Rocky boxes with my IRIX 5.3-era style Windows Console config.
@zzt @davidgerard @jwz Come to think of it, when KScope was my go-to IDE for FreeBSD kernel hacking, I picked that habit up from Robert Watson, and that was KDE 3.x era. Is fork-and-de-slop-as-a-service the future of AI-free FLOSS?

because it's made in polite and civil-toned bad faith
and KDE just accepted a conference submission written with a chatbot, the bad faith comes right there in the package

this "talk" looks like someone at KDE has made the decision to go slop and is trying to generate the appearance of consent. you've seen this playbook repeatedly.

Do they mean any user-provided model? Because no we fucking didn't. I tried those "small portable models" on an AMD HX 370 chipset with a 50 TOPS NPU (HX 470 only got 55). The only models that can run on there with half-decent speed (and 6-20gb of RAM) are the very tiniest ones with tiny context window, and they're dense.

@davidgerard @bms @zzt Ugh... What about GNOME (which I use)? I'm having a very cursory look at recently updated repos and I'm not seeing much slop. Evolution seems to be slopping, but I don't use it so whatever. I also see individual commits from months ago that seem more like experiments with the slop machine than a firm commitment. Any ideas?
