That's not it. At this point, every major project related to Linux that still has some funding and is not some basement hobby of someone is basically corporate owned and operated. The corporate mandate is to maximize productivity and remove as many expensive devs as possible. So you get this everywhere. Also see the major drive to remove all GNU code from some heavy-weight distros and replace it with Claude rewrites in Rust.

I'm happy I can chill on runit, xorg, window managers, some duct tape and lts systems for the next few years to watch the show unfold as America realize their copyright and copyleft systems are a bit silly.

As I can summon up custom window managers using current tooling and see others summoning up custom display servers and everything else one can imagine the future seems bright to me and KDE seems even more irrelevant to this than it has been for decades.

if you really want to have this talk on an unpopular subject associated with your conference (you shouldn’t), here’s a response you could give:

“thank you david for bringing this talk to our attention! we’ve added a disclaimer to the program that this doesn’t represent the views of the KDE project, and we’ve had a conversation with the people giving the talk.”

see how that’s more constructive than accusing someone of deceit for quoting your own website?

but I wouldn’t recommend allowing this talk at all, as its stated goal is to subvert the current AI policy of the KDE project, and you absolutely don’t need to have the project’s name on that
