@eloy I've considered taking a keyboard and XR glasses connected to my laptop in my bag to cafés like this before just to see if anyone complains, but it feels a little too "how far can I push a boundary for the sake of pushing the boundary before I get in trouble"

sitting in a cafe with a sign "please no laptops" while most people are using their smartphone

this feels like a hardware challenge in how far you can modify a smartphone without it becoming a laptop

@eloy I've been to one cafe where reading the internet on my iPad was forbidden, but an eBook was just fine.

@eloy@hsnl.social I wonder if combining keyboard+mouse with a usbc dock as well as bringing external display and then remoting into some actual Linux puter is still phone enough to be accepted

@eloy Is this a trend in cafes? If not, I know that place. My kid and I call it the Grumpy Dad Cafe
