    @EUCommission
Normally I am in heated agreement with EU style regulation but I'm not on this.

VW only uses VW parts on VW cars. Do consumers have a right to buy a VW car and insist on a Toyota steering wheel? Obviously not.

Of course I can put a different steering wheel in my car. Apple don't want to let you replace siri ai with the ai of your choice.

      Hey! You're right!

Atleast, I have the right to carry a firearm and have free-speech to defend myself from fascism>>>

This beats everything. Sorry. Get your rights up, son. I love my country ❤️🇺🇸🥳

A useful thing when civilization breaks down. More useful for you, then, than for me. You are nearer.

Somehow you Americans seem to labor under the impression that you are the only ones in the world having free speech. LOL.

Also, what is it good for, if you are not fighting fascism, then? You take your time ... and it doesn't seem to work.

@geoffl @EUCommission Good luck getting airbag to work. At the integration layer that Apple is inserting AI it is wise to restrict access to it. Apple's arguments are the correct arguments in this particular conversation.

@traveling_mike @EUCommission Extremely non-comparable segments. One at its baseline, is transportation and the other mostly software.

You can choose between many car brands, but only two operating systems for smartphones - Android or iOS. (Linux is not yet mature and anything else is de-googled OS)

              3. That's your impression of me. I've seen instances where citizens in the UK and Germany have been punished for certain statements online.

Ultimately, this world is just fucked up. But, I do wonder what part the EU plays in adopting central bank roles related to fascism and propaganda?

I don't understand your argument. Anyone is allowed to fit wheels from any supplier, or battery, or many other parts that are typically supplied as an "add on". There are multiple specialist suppliers of car parts for most major models of car.
The maker of a model (not just cars) are obliged by the EU, to provide a proper spec, then any competent supplier can design their items to fit.
This prevents monopoly overcharging for 'parts' to anything.

You're not seeing the forest because of the trees. VW does not have to design a vehicle that will accept a Toyota steering wheel. VW will not sell you a new VW with a non VW steering wheel.

Apple's endgame is never to comply with the EU Commission, but rather wait for enough people to complain to the EU Commission to change the rules.

                    That is the endgame.

@LinuxBSD @EUCommission the size of the fines will likely increase significantly before then. The EU can fine apple up to about 10% of annual global TURNOVER for noncompliance with the DMA. They can really make apple hurt.

@EUCommission You are neither acting in the sense of consumers nor in the interests of European software businesses. The problem in this is case is *you* - the EU commission. You are hindering software innovation made in the EU.You are hindering business opportunities. Most users give a shit about third-party AI or third-party integrations. Customers are interested in devices with maximum privacy. This is what Apple stands for. The ego trip of the EU commission is hilarious. Get over it.

@traveling_mike @EUCommission Well it does, because your point is not reasonable. You’re comparing a group of two with another group of hundreds, and these groups are not the same.

@EUCommission it's not for you to choose what options a provider give us. If we trust Apple to give us the right choice, it should be our choice as consumer to buy their products with the feature set complete.

You meddling with a free market and telling a private enterprise how they should build their products is a scary thing for a regulatory body to do.

let the market choose on its own.

@webjac @EUCommission Your understanding of "free market" is flawed. A free market can't regulate itself; those who play maliciously and unfairly will almost always dominate the market not because consumers chose it, but because they were forced and manipulated into it.

You want a full feature set? Go complain to Apple about it. What the EU regulation demands could've easily been done by Apple; it is not even more effort, just a slightly different way of doing things. But Apple actively decides against it; they want to monopolize the market.

You can't call a market a free market if its gatekeeped by a few major companies.

@traveling_mike @EUCommission But it does, because we are discussing whether or not it should be a rule, to be able to choose from more than one option.

I’m pretty sure that the Linux foundation cares for open source infrastructure, and now that Android is planning to make it harder to side-load apps - we need alternatives more than ever.

@webjac @EUCommission That’s exactly the point, to be able to have the choice to select which AI we get to use on our devices, and if Siri is actually the best and the most privacy focused, people will choose it. This time, Apple is not allowing people to make that choice. They are actively limiting features to a whole region to keep their control over their products, like they have already done with iPhone mirroring, for example.

@Ombligoelemento @webjac @EUCommission probably because they did a risk analysis and concluded that the EU would come after them if they released it. They are responding to the reality of the EU approach and don’t want a fight. Which is probably a sound business decision.

                                    Condescending slang.

Nah, I think we'll pass on this. We are more for the right to arm bears.

Oh, I'm sorry my bad, brother. Maybe that's better, or sir.

But, umm yea, I couldn't care less about the World Cup. It's obvious who's intentions are behind that. £100 million clubs aren't my fancy when there are MUCH MORE important issues to address. lol

Thank God there are Americans which are a bit more self-critical than you.

BTW, you attempt at comic sarcasm doesn't translate well between our different cultures. You don't sound cool ...

I'd wish you a nice day, but you wouldn't appreciate it. Don't see ya.

Ha, of course! You find the exit before you can answer my question! I'm sure you guys love central banks and market manipulation, typical of all fascists regimes really.

For your record, nobody's trying to be cool here. Just using my freedom of speech.

                                          1. It's American slang.

                                          2. The right to bear arms is a universal, inalienable right every country in the world should give it's citizens.

                                          3. That's your impression of me. I've seen instances where citizens in the UK and Germany have been punished for certain statements online.

Ultimately, this world is just fucked up. But, I do wonder what part the EU plays in adopting central bank roles related to fascism and propaganda?

You shouldn't mainline JD Vance aka The Hillbilly. It's not healthy. I seriously doubt you have seen anything personally.
