Ah sorry about that.
For what it's worth, this method was originally meant to be much simpler. Mastodon didn't invent it, it was originally a wider open technical standard where if people just linked to their profiles on different services, the links would show they were the same person.
Unfortunately Meta, Google, Twitter etc refused to co-operate, so it ended up mainly being for accounts on Mastodon that also have a website.
