    Great!

If you use the standard built-in picker, is it still rendering the wrong shades on your system?

Arg! Looks like I broke it again. Could be the Twemojify extension I just installed. Will see if turning it off gets things right again.

Looking closer, the Mastodon picker gives me yellow and the Awesome Emoji Picker gives me Medium Skin Tone, as per my settings. Check my timeline for more tests that I didn't do as Replies. 👀

If there's anything that needs fixing in Mastodon please do say and I'll try to follow it up with the developers. I've just posted in the issue about the typing method not working to remind them to fix it.

I installed the Twemojify extension bc my Apple Color Emoji font wasn't rendering color tiles from Wordle (& other games') results. I'd originally replaced it w/Twitter Color Emoji font. That fixed the color tiles problem, but then I couldn't type color emojis in docs on my Mac. Restoring Apple Color Emoji font fixed that prob but broke the color tiles problem in Ffox. Twemojify got rid of that prob, so now I'm good to go. Perhaps my exp. will help others who r having similar probs.

If you're using a keyboard and accessing Mastodon through your server's website, you can type emoji without having to use the picker.

Just type a colon : and without any spaces start typing a keyword. It will then present you with five emoji that match the keyword, and you can choose the one you want with the arrow keys.

For example if you type :sun you will see five different emoji for "sun".

If the one you want isn't suggested, click on the 🙂 picker icon instead.

@FediTips Not all Mastodon instances include custom emoji like :sun or :heart, so the autocomplete suggestions can vary depending on where your account is hosted

It should also be showing the standard emoji if you're searching for keywords that match them?

But yeah it will vary depending on what selection of emoji you have on your server 🙂

Did something change in the past 24 hours? I've noticed tonight that what should be green tiles in my game results show up as empty white squares (against a dark theme background) when I paste them into a post but show up correctly once I post. (I don't know if this happened last night and I just didn't notice.) 🤔

Is this happening on just one device or are you seeing the same thing across many devices?

There hasn't been any update to Mastodon's core software in last 24 hours but maybe your device or device app has changed?

2012 Mac Mini. OS 10.13.6. 😱 Hasn't been able to update either the system software or Firefox for quite some time.

Maybe I was distracted by the partial success yesterday. 🤣

2012 Mac Mini. OS 10.13.6. 😱 Hasn't been able to update either the system software or Firefox for quite some time.

Maybe I was distracted by the partial success yesterday. 🤣

If the browser and system are out of date that could be causing problems too I guess?

Might be worth checking how your account behaves on a system with up to date system and browser?
