Turned out that rather than try to fix my first half-cocked attempt, all I had to do was follow the guide linked below - well, except a single step which is missing & you better believe I'm keeping notes for the next time this hopefully never, ever happens to me
- and yes, I do feel like the entire movie "Hackers"
