    @benroyce
Bavaria is conservative but an economically active state.

The difference: Bavaria's population increased by 15% since 1990 (the biggest increase), Saxony-Anhalt lost 25% (the biggest decrease).
Among non city-states, Saxony-Anhalt is the state with the oldest average age, while Bavaria has the youngest.

@elCelio @benroyce Speaking of age and as a side note I've remembered that apparently the age group that showed the least support for the far right in Germany's 2025 election was those over 70 (10%), right? For all other age groups (18–69), support ranged from 19% to 26%. That looked terrible as future projection. BTW Spain's not that different.

What the fuck is going on in #Germany #Deutschland

#AfD is poised to win the election in #SaxonyAnhalt on Sunday?

      Fuck

That's former East Germany right? I sense a possible cultural spit with former West Germany. I could be wrong

Well, take it from this depressed and angry American: don't stop fighting

Flip it before the cancer grows

A lot of Americans just sort of gave up. It's maddening how easily so many just roll over. Don't do that

@benroyce The cultural split has been developing for years and it's only accelerated in recent years under the influence of US and Chinese social media platforms. Germany isn't unique in that regard, of course.

Saxony-Anhalt is very rural, there are no big urban areas there. So I think it's only natural that the racism-fueled disinformation campaigns targeting rural people are going to have the strongest results in that state.

@benroyce former East Germany never had any education on why authoritarian rule is bad... many of the nazi seemed also get high positions in the communist party. Generally more unemployment in the East compared with the rest of Germany, so all this makes them fall for AfD's lies.
Based on the German laws, I do not understand why this party is even allowed to be, a nazi in a suite is a much a nazi in uniform.

@txtx also, the denazification did not work well in East Germany. There are A LOT OF nazis there, not hindered in the least by other people nor the government. They are, like white men in the us, rarely held accountable for their crimes against everybody else. @benroyce

@benroyce Greetings from Germany: You would call those people prolly Rednecks.
Its depressing to see those Retronazis rise again. As if 1933 would have never happened. There was a time, where being a fascist was like social selfmurder. Not anymore. Media are pretty busy to normalize those assholes. This are tiring times. And stupid ones. I just hope they wont win as big as “predicted”.

              @benroyce @elCelio

It's absolutely America's fault. We destabilized the Middle East, storming into Iraq and losing focus in Afghanistan. Destabilized the whole region. Refused to take responsibility for the extraordinary refugee crisis we created. Millions fleeing to Europe, year after year.

We gave nazis exactly the foothold they needed to come back from the brink of extinction. Fear, doubt. Absolute exhaustion of those who tried desperately to help.

@benroyce @diekehrseite One thing: they are expected for major gains, but some very rich people are hyping the media. The pre-election polls (polls.are.not.votes) still say they cannot go alone. We now have to watch carefully which party is ready to set all that is left of their backbone on fire.

Don't fall for the cliche about the bad east germany against the good west germany part.

Keep in mind the most original Nazis where quite fast integrated into the new germany development after WW2. Since then they kept networks of interests alive.
That's why #project025 found a well connected base at least here in germany.
To focus the public just on SaxonyAnhalt is mainly a distraction of the right wing politics and mediastrategies already happening.

                                Still a fucking bad sign.

There is a reason why a whole political movement hasn’t suceeded to ban the right wing party AFD, despite being proven anticonstitutional.
Since years politicians refuse to use the constitutional way to start to get a court rule by our highest court.
Take an educated guess why that is.

@benroyce @diekehrseite One thing: they are expected for major gains, but some very rich people are hyping the media. The pre-election polls (polls.are.not.votes) still say they cannot go alone. We now have to watch carefully which party is ready to set all that is left of their backbone on fire.

that's the model here in the usa too:

the plutocrat-bigot political axis. this unholy alliance

this is the engine that is driving fascism

@benroyce I know. I am 53 and my grandfather went with the Nazis as a young man. My mother broke the contact later on for he still believed in a coming III. Reich with all the hatred and evil. Luckily I was a science nerd at a young age and did not fall for his lies and stories (+met the right people to the right time). But spending most of my time in a library I soon noticed his twisting and bending history. @diekehrseite

Trying to follow local shitshows on the other side of the world is *not* ignorant.😉
Most of us here don't know shit about what's really going on in the U.S. either.
                                          #NoKings ...
We here keep getting focused on the horrorbaby. 🙄

Here it's the same. Most of the many! protests against Nazis right in #SaxonyAnhalt "didn't make it" to any media.🤨 🤔

That's why something like the fediverse got so important.
