torvalds is really speedrunning all the major “dickhead manager discovers the slopbot” points

It's why they've had books destroyed after scanning them for AI, with the intention of forcing us to depend on AI's regurgitated output when they originals can no longer be found.
This is by design and goes beyond just AI vomit infecting open source. 🤬

little fucker lives and dies on unearned respect
@zzt You have articulated my own feelings very well. Thank you.
-
@zzt yeah I'm hitting the weird shit in UNIX history to talk about this one kid's hobby project
@zzt dunno if you didn't see it but https://woof.tech/@techokami/117453095072801952 it is done
-
@hipsterelectron @workingclassgames @zzt if Minix wasn't licensed to be academic-only until the 2000s things would be much more different
shame nobody wants to revive Minix 3. Except Intel for their CPUs.
@techokami @hipsterelectron @workingclassgames @zzt what do you mean by "Intel for their CPUs"

@aburka @hipsterelectron @workingclassgames @zzt it runs Minix 3
Every computer with an Intel CPU is running Minix

@aburka @hipsterelectron @workingclassgames @zzt it runs Minix 3
Every computer with an Intel CPU is running Minix
Andrew has won the war@techokami @hipsterelectron @workingclassgames @zzt do we know why they chose minix, and not like yocto or whatever was the equivalent at the time

@techokami @hipsterelectron @workingclassgames @zzt do we know why they chose minix, and not like yocto or whatever was the equivalent at the time
@aburka @hipsterelectron @workingclassgames @zzt honestly only the people from Intel truly know

@aburka @hipsterelectron @workingclassgames @zzt honestly only the people from Intel truly know
@techokami @hipsterelectron @workingclassgames @zzt yeah someone would have to give out some intel

and I am serious about this: if you want to predict what torvalds will say and do next, look at what AI boosters in power did months ago. he’s following the playbook to a T, and he’s digging up all the old justifications.
that makes it rather easy to shout back, of course, but torvalds isn’t (currently) afraid of that. he believes himself to be immune to shame.
I think we could make an actual bingo card with these AI booster phrases.
@zzt -
@zzt he is absolutely going to take the kernel closed source. dude is seething https://mastodon.social/@nixCraft/117451818001188131

@hipsterelectron @workingclassgames @techokami @zzt No way, Python was apparently developed for this OS first???
@theorangetheme @workingclassgames @techokami @zzt guido van rossum worked on it!!!

@ariaflame @synnfynn @axel they’re doing more than just destroying rare books in their repeated attempts to be the only source remaining for the data they’ve consumed for training
2026 is perhaps a poor year to accuse someone else of being a bit too paranoid

why would I respond to repeated and personal betrayals by one of the most toxic men in tech with anger?
and yes, when our labor is stolen that’s a personal betrayal. it doesn’t matter if torvalds knows who I am. I frankly don’t give a shit if he does. what I need you to know is he’s a weak fuck pretending to be a genius.
@zzt never met your heroes is more true nowadays than ever before 🫠

"when our labor is stolen that’s a personal betrayal"
I don't understand how more people don't see this. They're strip-mining the internet and selling it back to you via taps that they control. It's crazy to me that people are so quick to willingly surrender to what is clearly a new form of mass oppression that's taking root.
I'm already dealing with fresh college grads who can't arrive at solutions without prompting, it's extremely alarming every time I run into these people in classes.
Also, as an aside, the people who are okay with slopping code but don't like it when art is slopped are a whole other enigma to me. Like, do you just not value your work? Is that it? -
@ariaflame @synnfynn @axel yes we do! it’s extremely easy to find actually
but I notice you avoided the point of my post, and are now sounding like a fucking asshole who wants an internet debate on a Saturday
feel free to go find the news article yourself, you weird fucking dickhead
