I ran my first 10k race of 2026 today and it was a brilliantly organised small event along a pretty route (alongside a canal and river) and I not only got a new 5k PB but I finally got under 30 minutes (28:57) which was a goal for this year.

If you are in the South West of the UK then Prosper Events (https://www.prosperevents.co.uk/) put on good races based on this one.

@simon Congratulations - that's amazing, especially in this heat.

@neil Thank you! It was hot (and I need to be better about putting suntan lotion on my neck although gardening yesterday may be the real cause) but the 9am start meant that the first half was about perfect for me.

That
Is
AMAZING
Just pack in with the top runners and you're set for a PB! 🤪
I'm sure that's not true, you must've put in a lot of effort and it sounds like that passing that 5 km mark was really something you was looking for. Really well done!
Did you celebrate with something to eat and drink too? I bet that's required after such a great performance.
Congratulations

@folfdk Thank you. My pacing over the full 10k was terrible but I’m very pleased that I hit my 5k goal today and when I do my next race in two weeks I’ll definitely take it more steadily. And lurk closer to the back of the pack I think!
