Or by laying off all the people who actually make the product the company sells. Etc.

When the lack of good training data becomes a problem, the current heads will bail out before it becomes public knowledge how bad the situation is. Or they’ll be “fired” with hundreds of millions of dollars in severance. They’re incentivized to not care.

I’m pretty sure that’s not accurate. The iPod Accessory Protocol sends an audio stream and optionally one or more streams of text data (track name, artist name, etc.), and accepts a control event stream from the accessory.

Wired CarPlay is an extension of iAP which adds one or more video streams and a wider variety of text streams (e.g, next turn information) from the phone and an audio stream from the accessory (i.e, the car), but it doesn’t allow transfer of arbitrary data over the cable.

Wireless CarPlay adds a wireless handshake, but it’s exactly the same protocol as wired CarPlay otherwise. That’s why you can get cheap adapters to add it to cars which didn’t ship with it.

First, I remain curious why so many people write sentences like that which go backwards in time as you progress through the sentence. Financial news is always like that, too. “Price target adjusted to ____ from ____”. Ridiculous.

Second, that reads like the FCC is saying drones *must* receive software updates until at least 2029? My understanding is the opposite.

@z3r0 @lcamtuf Not just startups. Microsoft rewrote most of the network stack in what eventually became Vista. They managed to reintroduce Teardrop and a lot of other basic issues. It was eventually a good decision, but it took a while to get there.
