@evan I read some of it and got the impression that it does. Would you agree?

Which of these times are real?@evan Does the growing block theory treat 'existing' and the 'real' as synonymous?

I propose a navigation plugin for the AI slop era.@crumbleneedy Yes, special care and attention will be needed. How do imagine fighting AI slop polluting the internet?
-
If I were to write a firefox extension to flag sites and pages that are AI slop, I could either rely on user input (where users are responsible for tagging sloppy webpages) or an AI checker tool.@diffdude I think it's a promising start and hope others will join your conversation. I think a plugin eventually could have both an AI checker and human input.

I propose a navigation plugin for the AI slop era.@crumbleneedy I could easily name a few hundred accounts on here that I feel confident are writing their own toots and don't generate them with LLM. I could easily do the same with a few hundred sites too. For example, I can judge likely LLM-generated gardening content from a mile away, because gardening is my field. I think others could benefit from that. We don't need absolute certainty to help us navigate the web better.

Which of these times are real?@beandreams I would say race is not real, but it does exist - in the imagination of racists and in public discourse etc. https://radikal.social/@malte/115405095851060226

I propose a navigation plugin for the AI slop era.@crumbleneedy I don't disagree with you that there are risks. At the moment, my search experience is rapidly deteriorating. I want to start a conversation what we can do about it. I like your idea about an appeals process. How do you think it should look like?

I propose a navigation plugin for the AI slop era.@giuda_ballerino Looking forward to see how you will make something that will help us read more critically and learn to spot bullshit better.
-
I propose a navigation plugin for the AI slop era.@crumbleneedy If a page gets scored by 100 people and one person is fixated on em-dashes, it shouldn't change much. Do you have any trust in collective intelligence?
-
I propose a navigation plugin for the AI slop era.@diffdude That seems like the opposite of what I'm proposing.
-
Which of these times are real?@beandreams That's also pretty close to my definition of "real"! I would add that real things have an effect of the world on their own, regardless if we think about them. This is also why 'imagined pasts' are not real. They do exist, but only in our imagination. Our imagination is powerful and has effects on the world. But as soon as we stop imagining that past or future, it ceases to exist. It doesn't have a reality of its own. @evan
-
Which of these times are real?@beandreams Did you consider that the real thing having effects on you might be your present thoughts about those imaginary times, and not those times themselves? @evan
-
Which of these times are real?@evan The tradition I follow would say that both past, present and the future exists, but only the present is real.

@tanquist I have this turned on in my kaginimage search too.@tanquist I have this turned on in my kaginimage search too. I hope we'll see more of this kind of tools. I propose this in the same spirit.

I propose a navigation plugin for the AI slop era.@swope In another project I've benefited a lot from, some users have higher influence on the score based on previous ability to judge correctly. In such a scenario, those bots would lose their influence. I was hoping someone could describe this better. It has to be a WEB of trust, so we use some kind of discrimination mechanism on users too.
-
I propose a navigation plugin for the AI slop era.@giuda_ballerino I join your concern. Did you see my extra comment? I think your friend should be able to add some evidence or documentation that their work is indeed not LLM-generated. The very problem, that we constantly suspect this, is what we want to find solutions to. https://radikal.social/@malte/115400418825934736

I propose a navigation plugin for the AI slop era.@diffdude Awesome. I'm one of those who's on Firefox.

I propose a navigation plugin for the AI slop era.@curiouscat Yes, it's the federated version of those lists in a way

I propose a navigation plugin for the AI slop era.@noodlejetski Good catch. Web of trust means we need some kind of P2P assessment of users too, so that users that tend to assess sites correctly, also influence the score better and bots that are trying to manipulate the score gets very little influence.
