I heard today in a talk that the average #salary in #Kenya should be EUR 300 - 500 ... knowing Kenya well, i could not recognize that.
The explanation? "Average salary" is measured among those with jobs in the formal sector - which is ... 17% of those in workforce.
The reality for the vast majority is way lower.

My university uses #Geoblocking of known evil countries.

#Geoblocking is a very sensible and appropriate security measure, as it ensures that

only those with evil and hostile intentions get to your sites -
because for those, geoblocking is easy to circumvent -

while all normal naive believers in global connectivity - such as scientists, academics, students - are left out.
