Dear people from Denmark and possibly Norway and other places that use ø, æ, etc.: If you had to write a Danish name containing ø and æ in ascii - would you use o/ae, oe/ae, or o/a?e.g. mastodon instance https://norrebro.space

@kasperd @miyuru @tschaeferI agree with what you are saying -
good points.however, your average end user will say/feel that "things are working".
That it would work better without NAT, and that there might be things they never got to experience cos they DON'T work with NAT - that's nothing they can possibly know.

Humanity can not be trusted to colonize earth, let alone space.Humanity can not be trusted to colonize (or co-exist on) earth, let alone colonize #space.
"More than 40 percent of respondents to a new survey experienced a sexual assault or sexual harassment during recent Antarctic research expeditions, according to the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF).
Antarctica is a common analog for #spaceflight or stay on a future #moonbase or #Mars settlement due to its remote nature. "

random shots and tests from last nighti have no idea what this is, but it s beautiful.

@kasperd @miyuru @tschaeferIt is true that danish universities have ample #IPv4 space, so there hasn't been direct pressure to migrate,
From a merely pragmatic point of view, #NAT works fine for 99% of all things, as long as we are talking workplace and admin IT - non-specialist needs.
For people who actually do research in IT, like at the #ITUniversity, the situation is different, though.
And of course, users will never find out about the differences, if they never get a glimpse of #IPv6 -
@kasperd @tschaeferYes, my #university too used to have relevant inhouse IT competencies - the misguided trend towards outsourcing everything has led to a loss of #capacity.
Side comment: we also had #IPv6 circa 2011 ...This is of course an old debate, which now comes back to us, as we begin to understand that maybe putting all our trust into (US) companies was not such a good idea.
This of course mixes two relevant topics: US vs EU "clouds" with the general inhouse/outsource debate, -
Why EU, Denmark and any organization with an interest in data sovereignty needs to stop working with #Microsoft: when in conflict, US law will overrule their agreement with customers:Why EU, Denmark and any organization with an interest in data sovereignty needs to stop working with #Microsoft: when in conflict, US law will overrule their agreement with customers:
" if the United States were to issue a legal request to Microsoft for the data of a French citizen hosted in the EU, Microsoft would comply regardless of French or EU law. "

Last day of #SANOG43Most danish universities run on non-NREN ASs too - either their own, or ...
the biggest danish universities' web servers run on #Microsoft and #Fastly #AS
(to be fair, web server doesnt say a lot about rest of their infrastructure)

Last day of #SANOG43Remarkably, while the country of #Denmark shows a slow global-midfield growth in #IPv6, its #NREN #DEIC #Forskningsnet shows a downwards trend in IPv6 capability

Last day of #SANOG43"#IPv6 project
Forskningsnettet began offering IPv6 in the production network already in 1998 as the first research network in the world. Since then Forskningsnettet has offered access to IPv6 to the connected institutions. But interest has first really shown in the recent years."
Not all institutions have shown interest though ....
