@joepie91 fun fact: the only instances i'm aware of of there actually being paid protestors from outside the state were in support of right-wing causes, most famously the storm of the Florida electoral comission in 2000 which was presented as an authentic protest but was literally 100% position holders in the Republican party.

@joepie91 @Yuvalne didn’t they literally steal the 2000 election? That’s what I remember hearing (though I was born in 2003, so obviously no firsthand experience)

@Byte @joepie91 they did, and that storming was part of that (there's a great Climate Town video explaining how it happened. you may even say he explained it "blow-by-blow".)

Yeah. Gore the nepo baby folded like wet tissue paper. An utterly useless specimen all along. Such weak tea that he even lost his home state. I've never regretted voting Nader.

@Yuvalne that phrase "people mostly outside of KDE" is literally just a techwashed version of the fascist "paid protesters bused in from out of state" rhetoric

@Yuvalne @joepie91 reminds me of Raspberry Pi’s response to hiring a cop, too.

Dismissing criticism as inauthentic happens a lot

@joepie91 @Yuvalne huh. So in that context, January 6th was like a less well planned and less successful version of that?

@Byte @joepie91 well January 6th was less close, a 0.6% margin in the tipping-point state, compared to 0.0092% in the count that ended up certified in 2000, so the overturning then was easier. but it's also true it was less well planned, and thankfully it didn't succeed.

                    RE: https://floss.social/@kde/117322549131682125

                    things this post does:
                    1. place the blame on the KDE community
                    2. dismiss kdeforpeople.com as an external pressure group
                    3. dismiss opinions of non-direct contributors as irrelevant

                    things this post doesn't do:
                    1. apologise
                    2. mention that the person who escalated this shitstorm was a literal nazi
                    3. call the pro-AI presentation a pressure campaign like it did with kdeforpeople.com
                    4. make literally any lessons for the future
                    5. apologise!!

i no longer consider #KDE a community project.

@Yuvalne don't forget that this shitstorm brought out explicit antisemitism from the AI supporters (pro-holocaust rhetoric!!) which has yet to be addressed.

so you agree, KDE is not a community project. it's by the dev team, for the dev team.

@Yuvalne @mkyral Almost all community led projects are actually just dev led project. Shit ton of GNOME users for example complain about GNOME design decisions and yet they never listen to them. What the GNOME team decide is what matters. Same for Wayland and countless other examples.

Again. There are many, many users and each of them has some idea how should Gnome/KDE or other SW look and how should work. So devs and their preferences and vision are important there.

Personally I don't like Gnome philosophy, so I don't use it.

lol someone reported this post and forwarded it along, for "brigading", and to show this is brigading they cited... the exact Nate post i'm replying to.
                                idk what's more funny:
                                1. to report the admin of an almost single-user instance then forward the report to the same instance
                                2. to bring as evidence the blogpost the post you're reporting is in reply to
                                3. to quote Nate as evidence for brigading, when Nate himself edited the post to say he was wrong to call it brigading.

@Yuvalne why does it seem like "brigrading" seems to equate to giving any sort of criticism of anything ever.
