@emilymbender I don't think it's just you: my experience of Mastodon is that it can be stereotyped as mansplaining German linux nerds (with a secondary population of queer trans furry sysadmins).
At least we don't seem to have any Nazi billionaires (except for that Trump Guy running his own fork called truth.something) …
@cstross @emilymbender It's depressing to see how regularly they come out of the woodwork to assert their right to mansplain.

@lienrag and yet the posts are not actually constructive contributions but often explaining things back to me as if I haven't been writing about them for years.
But do go on: how does mansplaining work again?

@emilymbender I absolutely adore threads like this! I ban everyone in them -- both the mansplainers and the ones complaining about mansplaining

@ZDL @emilymbender did they started their replies with "let me explain to you because you have a vagina" or you just assumed that?
I previously scrolled trough that post, I cannot go back now because the Professor has blocked me, but people were just sharing their own experiences, that's all.
If you are an expert in an area doesn't mean that other people cannot share an experience or have an opinion in the area.

I didn't see the exact posts you were referring to but so I may be wrong, but generally the idea of posting in response to someone is to produce a conversation, which many consider to be the goal of social medias.
@lienrag my friend, allow me to remark on two aspects of your post:
1) Not every post needs a response, and not every response is useful
2) “media” is already plural -
