a list of games, developers and studios to boycott.

@pndc @kaito02 @davidgerard Fair enough, though the question is still why anyone would litter their expensive hard drives with this garbage instead of high quality games - preferably those you own (fuck "licenses", you OWN what you bought).
I'd rather have a copy of every single git commit version of Beyond All Reason on disk (like, physically, no version management inbetween) than a single of those Slop "games".
@Natanox @pndc @kaito02 @davidgerard Beyond All Reason explicitly allows AI code, so probably not a best example of nonslop.

NB: They let the LLM post all the articles about it and it fucked up even that: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/aigamingfestival/eventcomments/585058652581544556/#c585059318369646471

@davidgerard Marked every single game "ignored" and it's honestly a little funny watching steam struggle with that page now

@flesh @pndc @kaito02 @davidgerard I mean, I've seen worse… and I've seen better. At least they specifically ban any kind of media slop and limit the use of LLMs to "assistance". Also people having to tell which one they used might enable social pressure, away from the most evil ones (like Grok / xAI).
If the LLMs weren't made through the absolute most inhumane practices possible it would even be reasonable… and I still wonder why FOSS projects don't limit LLM stuff to "true FOSS-only".

@davidgerard Yeesh, those all look like humans were only tangentially related to their creation.

@davidgerard Everyone hit report grouop, select the piracy option and write a sentence or 2 about how ai generated content is based on stolen work

@Natanox @pndc @kaito02 @davidgerard Personally, I find the fact it's explicitly permitted alone to be a "avoid like the plague" project.
The fact they ban slop images is more weird than it is helpful. -

The fact they ban slop images is more weird than it is helpful.@flesh @pndc @kaito02 @davidgerard Well, at least they don't permit "vibe-coding". So that's something.
Why is it weird they ban slop images and sounds? I think that's just the most fundamental baseline.

@Natanox @pndc @kaito02 @davidgerard It's weird because they permit slop code in their software project.
It's like a banning high-fructose corn syroup while allowing lead flakes. Not really a consistent standard.
The fundamental baseline is not allowing slop. If they can't do that, they get no points.
And then there's the possibility that slop images to avoid being caught, since these can be more obvious to the average users than slop code. -
@davidgerard @flesh @pndc @kaito02 Ah shit, I threw "Verification and testing" and "Issues and discussions" in the same pot and thought the stuff in regards to Issues also applies on the code itself. You're right, it's way too permissive.

@davey_cakes @davidgerard they have been successfully running a live service game for 13 years and added a second one recently and while it's been a bit rocky as it can expected everything indicates they will be able to run two successfully long term. It's quite remarkable.

I knocked a lot of fun out of Path of Exile, it's great, never really got as deep as some people but it's a good laugh
