Thanks for the support! Funny thing I wanted to plug here: I've never received comments like that here on the Fediverse
, but I get dozens of them, weekly, on the Meta platforms (Facebook/Instagram)...I'm really grateful for how this community checks artists' work and actually verifies it's real human art before throwing random accusations.
This is my favorite place to share for a reason.

@davidrevoy Not that I would compare myself to an artist, but in a similar fashion I have already been told that my prose (mostly technical prose—again, not an artist!) must have been AI-generated due to my propensity to use em dashes…
Damn it, I—and countless other writers—have been using em dashes long before those stochastic parrots came into being!

I've had a keyboard shortcut for I-forget-how-many years to make it easy for me to insert a nonbreaking-space-and-em-dash combo, and I even wrote about using nonbreaking spaces like that over 16 years ago: https://kagan.mactane.org/blog/2010/07/10/typesetting-in-between-the-letters/
Some of us just care about typography.

I agree that it is an education problem. I can't say how much it will actually help, only time will tell, but here's my effort to make people more knowledgeable about AI: https://techne-system.neocities.org/program/level-2/topic-8/l2t8-iib-techThe real trick is getting people who think they already know all they need to about the subject to study it anyway, to fill in gaps and clear up misconceptions. Anyone who went through some of the previous topics in the program, such as Critical Thinking and Education, are far more likely to do that.

@davidrevoy You are one of the first people I followed on mastodon and feels so nice to see your post getting so much love. I have no idea what it can be like doing what you do in these times. All I can do is join here and share this from behind a smile, a feeling of empathy to a "stranger" I have a feeling I know and tell you that I look forward to your posts. @davidrevoy I think it's just something people struggle with, they will make deranged statements in pursuit of trying to seem like they're still on top of things.
I know it's easy to say, but don't take it personally, I've always been a fan of both your art and your open source tooling/process.
This stuff is one reason I'm really happy the EU is requiring AI involvement to be labeled as such; it works both ways, and hopefully other countries/areas will follow, so we can put an end to this.
