Canadian roads are a lot less safe since they got filled with these monsters, and the more there are, the more people want them because if you're in a small car you are more likely to get crushed by one, and the people who drive them like to intimidate people in smaller cars and can't see small people in parking lots.

@fj In a small suburban town of the US. Most people on my street have a giant truck like this. They never seem to haul anything with them. And they all like to start their ridiculously loud and smelly engines up, only to idle for 10-20 minutes before leaving. Never a quiet moment.

@fj I was in a parking last week where one of those testicars was parked: it was so wide it spread on the adjacent parking place, unusable. And it was so long that it was >1m in the alley, so incoming and outgoing cars could not cross each other.
They should simply impose a max width and length for car in public parkings.

@fj let's hope the Commission keeps it's nerve and slowly reduces the frustration not heights of cars. Even EU ones are getting higher and more dangerous to children and all pedestrians.

@fj The US – the only country on the planet to reject the international-consensus U.N. Vehicle safety and emissions regulations, instead clinging rabidly to their own (different, mostly not better, often substantially worse) standards, and which uses bogus taxes to keep non-US pickup trucks out – bitching about non-tariff trade barriers when the world's grownup countries close enforcement loopholes on the world's grownup vehicle standards. Fabulous.

Let's hope Europe doesn't repeat Japan's very stupid mistake.
