@GossiTheDog @grumpygamer same, been using it for years and they haven't done anything so far. Always time for them to sell it to the Chinese like they did with Opera, but here's hoping that doesn't happen.

And that's why some people are falling back to the freakin' Gemini protocol, of all things. Well, in this world, the only choices to not be accessory to evil are apparently either that or boycotting anything that runs on electricity

@grumpygamer I’ve been to some talks with people from Vivaldi and they seem to be very into taking the internet back from evil megacorps. Based in Norway. They did some cool stunts a while back trying to get people off the meta:

I still don't trust Vivaldi's closed-source part of their browser to be clean, in that sense even Brave has them beat to the part unfortunately. For now, I guess Waterfox is the least bad of the bunch

Feature wise, I think it is the most complete I know; the only thing I am missing now is container tabs. It uses the same engine as Chrome, after all.

The company is a norwegian-icelandic, employee owned, depending on donations.

@jcurioso @grumpygamer It's missing the ability to have the tabs above the URL bar. Which is the only place where they have any right to be.

@grumpygamer Lots of votes for Vivaldi here, but I can't be one of them. I use it as a secondary "trash" browser (for general surfing) alongside Librewolf, but with multiple installs on different platforms, it's always been buggy for me. Freeze-ups, random shutdowns, sluggishness, etc.

@jcurioso Suit yourself. But the url is part of the tab because it is different for each tab.
Therefore the url bar has to be within the tab.

99% of the time it works smoothly, for me.

@kennergf @sceneworld @grumpygamer I'm curious about this: either Firefox is run by horrible people, or it does bad things. Which (or both) is it in this case?

Every time I try a new browser because the old browser was run by horrible people I find the new browser is also run by horrible people. I'm running out of browsers. I worry browser are big and complicated enough these days that they will always be run by horrible people. Feels like I need to find the browser run by the least horrible people.
