@EUCommission
Our democracies fail.
Our leaders give up on human rights.
Somehow, authority seem fancier than liberty.Could EU work on that as well ?
Not just cell phone stuff (mobility, plugs...) and Erasmus programs, which are definitely good things, but also
- Media concentration #Bollore
- Computer monopolies #Gafam #IA
- Welcoming migrants #Frontex
- Individual protection and no #ChatControl
- Sustainable agriculture v. Agricultural lobbies
- Sobriety v. Business corruption -

@EUCommission That's a good step. However, devices can also get obsolete if they no longer receive updates, even if the hardware part works perfectly. This has a name: planned obsolescence. Something needs to be done about this too.

@EUCommission pick a consistent position ffs, you want right to repair but are building the entire EU digital infrastructure against device attestation. What if Google refuses to attest devices with non-Google batteries? Smh

@EUCommission
Practically that would mean that parts that weren't available to repair my telephone last year should be available now?I had a broken screen and the FaceID module was thrown out with the old one, in went the new - without that module.
Or does this only apply to products being introduced in the market, and from now on?

Your land is stolen. Your people are murdered, abducted and tortured. Somehow, dying seems as likely as living.
️ End the EU-Israel Association Agreement
Ban trade with illegal settlements
Impose sanctions on violent settlers and extremist ministers
Halt Horizon and bilateral funding to Israel
️ Restore and increase funding to Palestinian institutions and UNRWA, so that workers and vital services can continue. -

I think that law applies to all new appliances introduced from July 1st 2023. From what year is your phone?

@EUCommission sometimes repairing and improving longetivity also means being able to install your own software.
It would be great if the EU could forbid locking boot loaders of general purpose computing devices like smart phones, tablets, and laptops.
While we are at it, also require an alternative to Google/Apple remote attestation, so that we can still run our apps on repaired devices, or even better, European devices like Jolla's Sailfish OS phones.

May I ask 2 questions please?
* Have you considered many EU citizen live on an island? So, repair itself might become cheaper, but who is going to pay for the costs for the technician? Especially when it's still under warranty.
We bought a new laundry machine, although the broken one was still under warranty. But the costs for a technician was almost as high as a new one. New one came in 3 days. Technician and parts would have been in about 10 days ...Again: please consider while making your rules and regulations that not everybody in the EU live at the same circumstances, but those EU citizens too do have the same rights!
2nd: when is there going to be a rule like the c-to-c for phones /chargers for other standard things? Most of those are made in plastic, some even never used because the customer uses/puts the devise/whatever on another possible way.
I have made a list, if you are interested. That would make a lot less garbage in the world. -

@danieldk @EUCommission
There are already more alternatives for phones with alternative OS besides Jolla. Nothing for example. -

@EUCommission why did you not take a washing machine as an exsample? please explain how it works? You clearly put an end to Washing machines under 300 Euro. Or will my friendly #DHL take it to the repair shop? You know that im home rpair already charge for just showing up? haha well, congratulations for choosing a phone as exsample, a laptop would already be near impossible (if you can use a calculator)

@EUCommission now every company has a great reason to make your everyday electrical stuff really expensive
"You know... we need more skilled stuff, a location to fix things, and we need to store 100000 spare parts, you don't want to wait for shipping, do you? "
