It's just such frustratingly pointless self-sabotage. They had a good product and a competent team already with tons of goodwill. That's momentum.
Velocity is for startups. @protonprivacy could have literally done *nothing* and they'd be able to carve out a comfortable niche for themselves. They could have literally just sat on their asses, twiddled their thumbs, and raked in money and then Andy could have made like Gabe Newell and bought a yacht in a few decades if he'd had any patience.

@protonprivacy Now as it stands, I can't imagine the any board that would let Andy stay for much longer. This is a bigger trainwreck than they had over in Spain.

@marginalia This is such a bummer. It makes me question the reliability and soundness of all of their products. I wish I could just host my own email server and still function in the real world.

@marginalia Welp, I cancelled my Proton VPN and paid-tier email, after Yen came out as a Trump-humper. Looks like I'll need to start focusing on ramping-up my Tuta account so I can bid these shits adieu for good.
