    I appear to be having my first Wiki-argument. I feel there should be a traditional way to mark this milestone in life. Greeting cards in the shops that say: 'Congratulations on your special day, Wikipedian - Happy Wiki Row!' A nicely bound, beribboned book with 'Baby's First Wiki Row' in gold letters on the front where you record the steps.

        @CiaraNi What's the argument over? Am I missing out by not fighting with people online?

          Like wedding anniversaries, there should be a traditional gift for each occasion. A vinyl recording of the Champagne Gallop for your First Wiki Reuse of A Photo Uploaded. A wellness spa gift card for your First Man Explains Things To Me On My Own User Page. A sunflower for your First Photo Deleted Because The Freedom Of Panorama Rule Doesn't Apply Here.

            @CiaraNi
            I find that staying out of the argument, waiting a week or two, then fixing the article with referenced information works well.

                @CarstenBoll It's an extremely unsolicited argument. Someone posting unsolicited advice at me about how I should be a better Wikipedian and take better photos. With links to tips. They're welcome to make revisions or nominate my stuff for deletion if they want, but I think they should do that on the relevant content pages, not turn up and lecture me on my own page. If they're right, then the community can assess and decide on the specific case on the content page.

                      @mrundkvist The problem (as I experience it) is that they are not making an objection on the relevant content page. They have, not for the first time, turned up on my user page with unsolicited 'advice' about how I can be a better Wikipedian and share better photos that meet the wiki-guidelines. If they want to object, I think the process is simple - they can use the content page and be specific and nominate for deletion, then the community (in which I greatly trust) can decide.

                                @mrundkvist I don't want to escalate really. I normally just ignore, but something about it bugged me enough to reply directly to his post on my page. I think it's because it's Wiki. It's about sharing free resources as a community and helping each other in collaboration, so a veteran putting a newcomer down with condescension and territorial behaviour seems counter-productive. If he has a point, it's lost in the way he delivered it and just makes me think I'm not arsed doing more Wiki-stuff.
