I'm aware of many interesting groups in guppe but for the last 2 days nothing I've tagged a guppe group on has been posted. And I'm not aware of being under a ban of any kind, nor do I ever spam these groups with off-topic posts.
I don't know whether this has anything to do with something going on wrt to my own instance, @mathieugp ?

@PariaSansPortefeuille You are correct! It appears the website resolves with a fresh install of a WordPress blog.
I'm guessing the service is currently dead (whether accidentally or not).

It looks like the domain might have expired and was scooped up by someone else? It's registered to 'cesar garcia' now. And the fresh install of WordPress that existed before is now full of generic SEO-keyword-optimised "How to" guides for Mastodon.
It'll be a shame if that's the case. Guppe Groups was a good way to further reach of posts.

yes, there were all kinds of groups promoting solidarity and discussion. I'm showing my age here, but it recalled to me the email discussion groups on yahoo et al back in the 90s and early 2000s.
I'm a nul in informatics, so I don't know how to evaluate what's happened, and am grateful for the observations of ppl with more competence than me. I've seen "outages" on these groups before, which were resolved. But this sounds more serious (?)

Does anyone have a contact with the lead developer of Guppe? The Open Collective contact link seems to require an OC account.

There's no activity from @SyndicWill on his socials recently, the domain for immers(dot)space is also down, no update to the Open Collective since late 2024.
Still active on GitHub though - I'll see if I can reach out. If the project is dead, I guess donations via OpenCollective should stop.

This is awful news! How can a registry sell a domain before it expires?
