@ReggieHere I'm by no means an expert, or even very knowledgeable about this, but I would say no - the only way this could work is if communities in all the other states do nothing while the regime is working on one of them, simply standing by & waiting for their turn in the grinder, and it seems wildly improbable to me that they would do that. It's a bit like the "bad guys attacking one at a time" trope from movies, except in reverse - it doesn't work that way in real life.

@iain There isn't a lot of clamoring voices - but there's a shit-ton of evidence that consumers low-key care & make decisions based on perceptions & gut feelings related to responsibility etc. Hunkering down & hoping it blows over may "work", in the sense that it doesn't usually (!) cause an instant run or bankruptcy, but it most certainly doesn't promote growth, making the choice even more ridiculous considering how holy growth is in the very same corporate culture.
