The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot
A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead:
@ketan except he asks it to make his beautiful? I see nowhere that he asks AI to copy the other chart.

@ketan the most 2026 usa ad ever, hand them an award

@monocularvision @ketan but the narrative and framing make it clear he's doing this after having a neg reaction to peers calling a coworker's beautiful
what is that if not asking ai to replicate what got his peer praised?

@ketan @drahardja This is satire, right? This is not a real ad or is it?
@finestructure @ketan @drahardja AI ads are unironically this cringe. My (least) favourite one was by Apple in which a wife forgets her husband's birthday, gets passively upset at her children for remembering and getting gifts, then uses AI to "gift" her husband something like a collage or montage of photos from her phone, something that phones create automatically these days.

@ketan literally any other combination would've gotten the same response:
- roles reversed: showing whites as victims of "stealing work"
- monoracial (white): product promotes white supremacy
- monoracial (non-white): stereotyping X race as "plagiarisers"Maybe we tone down on the idpol when we really need some class solidarity, eh?

-
@ketan I really hope the ad agency meant to do this and Microsoft just didn't get it

@loathsome_dongeater @ketan @drahardja Wow, that sounds terrible. That’s like a digital petrol station bouquet but with even less effort and therefore more of an insult.

Beside the embarrassing and cringeworthy aspects. It also shows exactly how not to use an "ai assistant".
That's like throwing dice on that rather mediocre Copilot thingy.
