mastodon.uno has an Italian description but is stated to be hosted in France.

@jollysea I realize they are not a government entity. But they are using a .eu domain (yes I know basically anyone can get one) so clearly this is the way they're trying to sell themselves
@ricci I think its a good idea to own one's mistakes and make it clear when you edit a post. I agree with you on the substance, they are selling themselves for something they are not.

I'm using ipinfo.io for geolocation - but, like fedidb, I can't tell where hosts behind CDNs are automatically. But if they have a system for letting admins indicate their location, and expose it via API, I can maybe get a better guess for some behind CDNs

Even naming themselves after X, which is Elon's blind path and not the Twitter many fell into an abusive but somewhat beneficial relationship with, is a red flag. -

I had thought perhaps they weren't showing the local servers in order to protect them. -

I think they're trying to do European Big Tech, blissfully unaware that Big Tech is seen by many as one of America's many illnesses, not a goal to strive towards. (Or aware and they think that point of view is wrong somehow.)
