There is a third option which they apparently do not even want to contemplate: Want an ai data center? Then ensure there is enough alternative energy and water. No taking of the publicly available pool of resources.

The EU commission is going to focus on AI, when the whole population would prefer them to focus on the environment.

Where electricity connection is missing, gas pipelines also are lacking. Thus a non-argument in the EU.

Funny! I never expected to hear the data centre lobby say something I've been saying about data centres...

But yes, the EU must choose. I do hope they will choose wisely!

(if their other choices, eg pro-poisoning ourselves with pesticides, are anything to go by they will, alas, choose... poorly.)
