The instructions are so simple and detailed and the "new OS" is basically exactly the same thing right down to having the same basic startup configuration and etc. The only difference is the Google connections are optional and one can decide for themselves how far they want to go.

It's pretty much just tapping a few things, then copying and pasting two lines or so. Once it's booted you wouldn't tell it apart from stock other than its cleanliness. It's easier than installing Linux on a PC and that's actually a lot easier and less scary than people have been convinced.

I bet if people didn't let Google, Apple, and etc convince them that they are so scared of installing third party options we never would have reached this point.

I had expected worse, as long as the phone otherwise works during a 24 hour security delay and I can set allow side loading without an expiry it is acceptable.

Unlikely that more can be asked for as what that notice offers will placate politicians and courts.

Tbh, considering that border agents also sideload their spyware and then wipe it off when you have to hand them your phone unlocked and they vanish with it for a few minutes this is probably a good thing though.

Also you've only to go through it once.

The only question I have is if they'll allow Apps to query this, if they do then that'll be the bigger issue as then almost all anti-cheat, anti-tamper, and "root detection" frameworks will add it instantly...

Google lingo: "power users". Jeez... I'm most definitely not a "power user", I just want to download apps from @fdroidorg , @IzzyOnDroidOrg , @accrescent . It's not something complicated for a minority, downloading from repositories other than Google Play Store is a choice everyday users can make.
