If you reply to a PeerTube video post in Mastodon, your reply will appear as a comment below the video on PeerTube and PeerTube accounts can reply to your reply.
You sometimes see conversations between a viewer on Mastodon and the video creator on PeerTube. For example here are some Masto accounts talking with a PT account: https://fedi.video/w/fbJ4cMvGB68srJ1EQK5pYv
If you want to publish a video on PeerTube you do need a PeerTube account, but the interaction can be done from Mastodon.
Publishing a video on peer tube is what i mean, like ideally, i would just have a peer tube account as youtube is the only social media i use really but i dont think i can interact with mastodon accounts via peer tube other than just follow them

Yeah, PeerTube accounts are mainly for publishing videos. If you want to interact with text posts it's a good idea to also have a Mastodon etc account.
