@FediTips Thanks for offering your help! I am using Firefox on Ubuntu 24.04 and occasionally get a "rate limited, try again after HH:MM" message when trying to post or reply or favorite a post. I will then get about a one minute window to post and then get locked out again. Is mastodon.social too busy, or do I have too many mastodon tabs open?

I've seen that bug too, it occasionally happens on my own server's website as well.

In mastodon.social's case, they are using the experimental branch of the software so there may be new bugs introduced as well.

I had a look on Mastodon's Github for more info but there wasn't an obvious single cause.

It might be best to contact your server's admins for support, for you that is @Mastodon or email them at staff@mastodon.social

@Mastodon I am not sure if it's a bug, it could be my fault for having three Firefox windows and a zillion tabs open, and thereby low on memory. Anyway, a restart solved the problem, the message went away and things are normal now. Thanks again for your help.

I don't think it's your fault, have seen this too occasionally without an obvious cause.
