FWIW ... I'm team pretzel!
Because I've eaten some mighty fine GF pretzels with spicy grainy mustard. -
@OohOkayKay giving this one to doughnuts because there's just so much more variety of flavour. If we were glazing pretzels on the regular this might be a different conversation.

@Dunstable
That makes perfect sense. The flavours are unendless.I, on the other hand, eat a doughnut about once a year and generally because their nothing else available. Lol

@OohOkayKay Haven't had a donut in decades. Wish I could get pretzels like the soft pretzels I had in Germany, but so far no luck in the US

@Thorium @OohOkayKay Are pretzels a thing outside on US, Canada and Germany? They're not on our radar in the UK at least. So it had to be doughnut
-
@OohOkayKay I live in Bavaria, home of the pretzel. 🥨 no contest here.

@OohOkayKay around here, if food is required for any sort of social event, fresh pretzels with butter are the default choice.
In many villages, kids are given a giant pretzel on their first day of school.
I recently overheard one parent telling another, as he was shoving pieces of pretzel into his kid’s mouth: “I have no idea how they raise kids in places where there are no pretzels.”

@Thorium
That sounds like a good reason to open a Pretzel Truck ... $$$. LOL -
@OohOkayKay I voted donut because if you catch me on an average day and ask, that’ll be my choice. But the right pretzel can be really, really satisfying.

Especially with a good condiment like spicy mustard or whipped butter. -
@OohOkayKay Nice.

@Tattooed_Mummy
That's my friend's favourite. Which is nice because I can never go wrong by picking him one. LOL -
@OohOkayKay @Thorium I was in Ottawa a couple of weeks ago and we saw pretzels quite a lot in the bars, but it was only the Americans in our party that ordered them
-
@OohOkayKay All I know is that the last time I dipped my doughnut in mustard it tasted awful.
-
