Yesterday Cory Doctorow argued that refusal to use LLMs was mere "neoliberal purity culture". -

The British Museum has removed the word #Palestine from displays about the ancient Middle East following complaints.Oh but the UKLFI have admitted they did it.

The British Museum has removed the word #Palestine from displays about the ancient Middle East following complaints. You seem like the person in the room who says "but Hitler was a vegetarian and loved animals".
You appear to demonstrate an immaturity, a naiveté, about the wider context that includes
1. A malevolent group, the UKLFI, pressuring British institutions to make changes in a way that they would not do. The same group that forced a London hospital to be take down childrens art.
2. The ramping up of the genocide of Palestine, its people, culture, its history, its very memory.

If you somehow still considered uploading your face/ID to Discord, here's one more reason not to: Peter Thiel seems to be the lead investor in the service that implements the age check.I'm no expert but we do check age when selling alcohol, vapes or knives in shops.
In a shop the vendor looks at the ID card but does not keep it.
That seems to be a proportionate approach.
Sadly I don't know of anything equivalent in the digital world.

Thinking aloud - it can't be instance size because you can theoretically reach people beyond your instance.
I think age verification is a good thing. If it can be done in a privacy preserving way - and that, for me, is the issue.

How can a mastodon user tell if their account is "hidden" or "limited" ?I'm not communicating with that server. I communicated with people I followed and who followed me.
Your privileged rationalisation of victimhood will age badly.
