@lucyruthe I just Followed you

@eniko @c0dec0dec0de To be honest, it's not really the work life that hurts the most.I've had low-wage jobs before. I've also been long-term unemployed. It fucking sucks, but it's survivable - at least here where I am. I can make do on very little if need be - I know this for a fact, because I spent a large chunk of my youth under the relative poverty line.But the thing I always had that I could hold on to when life sucked was programming. I've been programming since before I knew it even could be a job.And it's also the one thing I've ever had in my life where I'm not just some disabled fuckup. The one thing that I could actually do that anyone actually valued.Seeing the value of that plummet to 0 in nearly no time at all has sent me reeling, and I don't know if I can get back up.

@mcc @gsuberland That sounds like a neat idea actually, sometimes when i type something long i decide actually would rather edit this in vim, so i copy, edit there, and copy back when i'm done, which creates the backup as a side effect, (i've been burned by youtube comments a lot too, typing anything consequential in there is really a dangerous life), but it's still not an ingrained reflex, i think a plugin that would see it's getting long (in size and time spent) and nudge me in that direction would be really useful.

@MLE_online I don't know if I should say what works for me, or if that would just piss you off

@fesshole como decir que no has pillado de que va Star Trek si decir que no has pillado de que va Star Trek

@faithisleaping yeah, i think i misread your point at first. i was assuming various dating preferences (which don't have to necessarily be sexual, anything can technically be a preference) but the behavior of being attracted to someone and then being upset when they find out they're trans definitely isn't all right.that being said i still think that not everyone who doesn't want to date trans people is transphobic; if someone said they don't want to date people with tattoos and that it's a dealbreaker for them i wouldn't consider it something that makes it necessary to isolate from that person. if someone doesn't treat foreigners as inferior but at the same time wouldn't want to date a foreigner, i'd not consider that xenophobia but purely a dating preference that could be a dealbreaker. in that same way i'd consider wanting to date a cis person a preference.in such a scenario i'd be more interested in finding out why this hypothetical guy doesn't want to date trans people. if it's one of the "excuse" reasons you mentioned then that's transphobic but there's a subset of people who simply aren't attracted. those aren't being upset after seeing trans people on the internet though, so we might be imagining a different kind of person maybe.
