i'm calling out their toxicity
"no, you!" is not the genius argument you think it is my best friend
i will certainly not stop calling out this personality disorder of "demand perfect, never be supportive of good work and positive effort" whiny useless shit
you certainly do not have to like that
you are free to mute, block, ignore, etc to your heart's desire
and so welcome to mastodon, and enjoy your stay
@benroyce @YurkshireLad @Vivaldi That person just asked to change their browser engine to something other than Chromium. I don't agree at all, but it's an opinion, while you are attacking his opinion like we were on Twitter. We don't do that here, and yeah, I can block and mute you, as many people can and will do if you keep up this behavior. Welcome to the fediverse also, but stop being so toxic and telling people to just block/mute you. Be constructive and positive. Thanks.

in this life
we are tolerant, except to the intolerant
we are sensitive, except to the insensitive
we are nonviolent, except to the violent
etc
and we are not toxic, except to the toxic
if you are not familiar with the Vivaldi account, or other major accounts, they attract this sort of endless pit of pathetic reply guys: they fill your screen with harsh whiny demands for perfection
never any appreciation
they are toxic shit
and i will call them out on it

@Vivaldi Grazie.
-
@Vivaldi That's good to heard you won't cave into AI like the other browsers.
What about my Vivaldi cat ear logo change? I think it would be a hit!! :3

@H0W25 @Vivaldi @YurkshireLad @benroyce@mastodon.social if your comments there are at BenRoyce (I can’t see him coz he’s blocked me and a billion others who don’t like his American Supremacist arrogance) he’s got long history of insult and profound ignorance.

"Using an AI to browse for you is like paying a robot to go out to dinner with your friends and give you a text summary of the evening when it gets home."
That dinner-summary analogy hits the nail on the head. The corporate push for AI isn't about saving you time; it's about killing your curiosity so they can control the bottleneck of what you see and what you don't.

Without human exploration, the diversity of the web dies. But capitalism demands we replace active exploration with inactive spectatorship, turning users into passive consumers of synthesized noise.They are industrialized tools built to monetize convenience by destroying human agency. It’s a relief to see at least one browser team choosing humans over the investor hype cycle.

Kudos for doing such an amazing job.
I wish we were to have a truly independent search engine, free and with no AI nonsense.
We can't have a web in our terms when the big search engines are getting us less and less genuine results each day, even these are buried by AI nonsense, and are soon to be scrapped.
-
@Vivaldi make it open source. I'll definitely switch
️ -
No, in case you wonder, we haven't changed our minds.
@Vivaldi good choice but the statement honestly looks like something AI would construct to post on LinkedIn

My suggested alternative is "No AI. None"
-
I'd probably switch to you as soon as you stopped being proprietary software. Can't trust your browser to not be leaking data elsewhere until we can get proper source code to analyze it
-
Startpage was my choice and it works great with Vivaldi 8.0.
@Skwerlgyrl @Catweazle @Petesmom @Vivaldi
European?Startpage uses Google as their source including their mandatory ranking.
If you want European the only choice is @Mojeek .

Yes, Startpage use the Google index, but not its sniffing, tracking nor logs and no AI, all behind proxy. I use it mostly for image search with better results as with others.
It's from the Netherlands. -

@Vivaldi
Been using Vivaldi with Qwant search engine, seems to work ok. Please let me know if there's a problem with using Qwant as I'm not an expert and there's multiple choices out there. -

Yes I know it’s, like myself, from The Netherlands.The algorithm of Google, which Startpage has to use, is for me untrustworthy.
I personally use @kagihq
-
@Vivaldi
Please make noai.duckduckgo a default search engine choice. I have to manually switch DDG every time I use it.@Petesmom +1

i'm not blocking you, jimmyb, you're blocking me
if i recall our conversation which led to the rupture correctly, you were vomiting whataboutism that blames the west for russia invading ukraine
i called you out harshly for your lies, as you deserved
hilariously enough, that makes this "arrogant American Supremacist" more in line with average european sentiment than you
but i'm glad i made an impression
now stop making stupid excuses for kremlin imperialism
