    @marjolica @vfrmedia @afewbugs @BashStKid @CiaraNi Maybe some well-meaning people have been sending piles of letters to their Freepost address, thereby running up their charges. I've seen it advocated on here. 🤭

    @kbm0 @marjolica @afewbugs @BashStKid @CiaraNi

    I've not had one yet (although other people in Ipswich have), and I was planning to use it to line the concrete below my car as I'm doing an oil service soon..

      i ... don't know what that's about, and i think i prefer it that way?

      but as for catching enough of them, fair. you'd need fewer of the massive blue-black-violet one though, if that helps?

        @vfrmedia @afewbugs @BashStKid @CiaraNi not just E/SE England we got a piece of Reform labelled wastepaper through our letterbox this morning here in South Devon.
        It includes a membership form. I note they are now asking for it to be sent in an envelope with a stamp. I wonder what happened to Freepost?

          @afewbugs @BashStKid @CiaraNi Izal loo roll is long discontinued, but Reform have been putting free newspapers through doors in parts of SE and Eastern England..

          @vfrmedia @afewbugs @CiaraNi Is that the new Reform shitepaper, all the lies, all the time?
          It would be considerate to Freepost it back to Reform, with a PLEASE RECYCLE RESPONSIBLY on the front.

              @vfrmedia @CiaraNi @BashStKid tbf these are our go to camping meals with packet rice, I'd be very happy subsisting on them for a bit https://adf-foods.com/our-brands/ashoka/shelf-table-products/ready-to-eat/ (The distinction between "vegan" and "normal" does make me snigger a bit)

                I just realised I've actually had some of these, I found them in a shop run by Desi (South Asian) folk in town when I had to go to the opticians (its on the same street).

                Looking at some of the reviews, they are popular with taxi uncles, soldiers, outsourced workers and others who might be separated from their families.

                There's usually at least one shop like this (and sometimes multiple) in most larger towns and cities (although I do feel a bit of imposter syndrome when in them as despite being British Asian myself I don't always know what half the things in there are, which is why I was attracted to these ready meals)

                      it was about the same as a "South Asian inspired" ready meal from a mainstream British supermarket, maybe /slightly/ better (or at least with more spices)

                                @afewbugs Good to see this issue highlighted. This reminded me of a motivating news story here (Denmark) about Hals, a town of 2,500 residents, many elderly. They've pooled their emergency preparations. As a community, they've collectively made sure everyone has enough to last 7 days; there's designated shelter spaces; the local shop has pre-planned emergency stock boxes etc. Great way to take care of everyone, including those for whom money, mobility or space is tight.

                                That is a lot of initiative: I love activists who are thinking a bit outside the box. Old people will save us in the end :^)

                                “Birgit Sørensen, retiree
                                She leads a group of activists who are currently trying to get the town’s roughly 2,500 residents to prepare as best they can—especially since a large proportion of the town’s residents are elderly.”
