@Vivaldi so basically like @torproject / Tor Browser since launch…

No, in case you wonder, we haven't changed our minds.
@Vivaldi now if your browser code was stable and relatively bug free we could talk about switching from brave
I'm not usually a free software extremist but outsourcing development to the community may make Vivaldi competitive with the likes of Firefox and brave -
@Vivaldi
Please make noai.duckduckgo a default search engine choice. I have to manually switch DDG every time I use it.@Petesmom You can make it the default search engine, instead of having to manually switch every time.
-
Kudos for doing such an amazing job.
I wish we were to have a truly independent search engine, free and with no AI nonsense.
We can't have a web in our terms when the big search engines are getting us less and less genuine results each day, even these are buried by AI nonsense, and are soon to be scrapped.

No, in case you wonder, we haven't changed our minds.
And we appreciate it.

No, in case you wonder, we haven't changed our minds.
I'd probably switch to you as soon as you stopped being proprietary software. Can't trust your browser to not be leaking data elsewhere until we can get proper source code to analyze it -

@Vivaldi One way or another, I will add my own team of small LLMs to any browsers. Whether your browser does or does not have AI in it, it will make no difference. I will replace the desktop of any OS using my AI centric browser app using a small team of small LLM running on llama.cpp and a bunch of MCP servers to make any browser "smart". A browser becomes a UI for my AI apps. No one can act against a big tidal wave.

@Vivaldi make it open source. I'll definitely switch

this was an early design decision when things were less creepy
it's not the end of the world
and perhaps vivaldi can transition, but it's a huge ask, and you know it
in the meantime stop being such a douchebag and show some appreciation for the post above
instead of immediately launching into masturbating your ego over this endless endless "bUt I wAnT pErFeCt" that infests social media, and means absolutely nothing, this lowest common denominator empty whining
@benroyce @YurkshireLad @Vivaldi his comment is still valid and you shouldn't attack him.

@ahau @Vivaldi That is a fitting metaphor: AI as a big tidal wave.
The proper response to big tidal waves is to seek higher ground and wait until the waters recede. Then you clean up the filth and debris that it has left everywhere and repair or rebuild what was damaged. In the end, you get to terms with the fact that some things and some people were irretrievably lost, and that some of the landscape has changed permanently.
I’m quite sure that the current AI craze will go somewhat like that.

his comment is utterly invalid
perfectionism is for immature losers
and i will attack him for it, because it's the dreariest lamest shit. it's the toilet of social media. whiny shitbags endlessly complaining because we haven't achieved purity. never a kind word for good progress, good effort, positive statements
i despise these entitled karens, and they are legion
anything else i can help you with today?
-
@Vivaldi That's good to heard you won't cave into AI like the other browsers.
What about my Vivaldi cat ear logo change? I think it would be a hit!! :3

@Vivaldi Vivaldi needs to remove the api exposing battery level

@benroyce @YurkshireLad @Vivaldi You can help the community by stopping insulting random people around the fediverse. That behavior can look pretty toxic. If someone is doing it badly, insulting them doesn't make you better.

i'm calling out their toxicity
"no, you!" is not the genius argument you think it is my best friend
i will certainly not stop calling out this personality disorder of "demand perfect, never be supportive of good work and positive effort" whiny useless shit
you certainly do not have to like that
you are free to mute, block, ignore, etc to your heart's desire
and so welcome to mastodon, and enjoy your stay
