    @cbecker @ACM

    Damn...now thinking of changing instances. The amount of "AI“ posts I've seen definitely went up over h years, but to give level footing with actual authors? I disaree.

      Yes, this will give ACM more papers. No, the ideology of "number go up" productivism is not the path to responsible, ecological or ethical computing, but to irrelevance. #AIslop

      @cbecker @ACM Suicidal. I wrote for the CACM and for Queue. I'm going to pitch a series to Queue... but I assumed it would be written by humans, from human memory.

            Don't worry. Soon most employeers will mandate the use of "a one", as the US education secretary calls it.

                  @cbecker @ACM They were only 15-20 years late to open access, not terribly surprising their understanding of scholarship has not changed.

                          oh but we can't possibly be expected to keep track of what we do with our computers when we produce ten papers each week!

                          @cbecker @nyhan Whoever wrote that policy has perhaps never written a paper. Writing is an integral part of doing research.

                          How about developing dedicated tools for uncritical writing-related tasks such as spell checking? And not call them AI? They would then *automatically* be outside of the scope of AI policies. A simple and smart move! We should have thought of this long ago.

                            @cbecker as the result of such a policy, i wonder how many regular reviewers for acm journals/conferences will refuse to do this task. it will be at least one (counting myself).
