BookWyrm is a Fediverse alternative to Amazon's Goodreads.Ahhh thank you!

BookWyrm is a Fediverse alternative to Amazon's Goodreads. These aren't deliberate design decisions by BookWyrm, they're doing what they can with the resources they have. It's made by volunteers who depend on donations from users.
You can still set up an account and engage with people, it just wouldn't be designated as a separate section?

BookWyrm is a Fediverse alternative to Amazon's Goodreads. Not as far as I can tell, it seems to just have one set of dates for each book.

BookWyrm is a Fediverse alternative to Amazon's Goodreads. Here you go, I had an old test account which I've taken some screenshots from. I'll try to add these to the guide at some point.

https://ramblingreaders.org is hosted in Denmark (server), UK (email) and US (server monitoring).

I find it sad to see that some actors within the Fediverse like @fediversereport or @FediTips use their range to spread political messages or politicalize the Fediverse. You can't separate these two things from each other.
Me helping people on here is directly because of the awful behaviour of corporate social networks.
If corporate social networks are pretending to be decentralised and hosting vile people that promote war crimes, it is important to warn people. I warn people for exactly the same reason I post tips.
People are getting harassed, kidnapped and murdered. This is a 1930s point in history, politics is not optional.

I legit don't know the etiquette for replying to a thread with a lot of participants in terms of leaving everyone tagged...Yeah, you could even remove all the tags and it won't notify anyone but it will still be visible in the thread if someone is browsing it.
(That extreme is a bit useless for discussions though as people are unlikely to notice your reply without at least someone being tagged

I find it sad to see that some actors within the Fediverse like @fediversereport or @FediTips use their range to spread political messages or politicalize the Fediverse. You can't demand free volunteer work from people and then say that they should not express opinions about injustice. The reason people do volunteer work is usually because they are trying to help others who need help.
I run my accounts and sites and put most of my spare time into them because of things like this:
Corporate social networks are killing people and threatening vulnerable groups. I am trying to help build non-corporate alternatives.

I legit don't know the etiquette for replying to a thread with a lot of participants in terms of leaving everyone tagged...It will vary a LOT depending on context, you'll need to use your own judgement based on what kind of thread it is and how people are participating.
As a rule of thumb, only tag people if you think they would benefit from seeing your reply.
By the way, if people get fed up of being tagged in a conversation they do have the option to "mute conversation" so that they don't get notifications from that thread any more. More info at https://fedi.tips/muting-conversation-threads-in-mastodon/

Muting and blocking are really important tools on Mastodon. There isn't, no. Sorry!
-
@FediTips on mastodon is it possible to watch a thread for replies? No, it's not. There was a discussion about this on the Mastodon Github as this has been requested by quite a lot of people. If you are interested in the technical details it's at https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/7969
Apparently it would be difficult to do this with the current version of the protocol that servers use to communicate.
The nearest workaround I can think of is to bookmark the thread and check back later.

Mastodon includes a built-in system that lets you invite people to join your server:Yup, the admin can switch them off at their discretion. (I've included instructions in the guide on how admins can do this as it's not very obvious.)
It really depends on the server whether invitations are appropriate or not, it's the admin's call to decide.

@PaulaToThePeopleOkay, no worries! I'll keep an eye out for this happening

-
@FediTips@social.growyourown.servicesYes, you can move back and forth as often as you want.
However, you have to leave a 30 day gap between transfers as it can take some time for the first transfer to finish.
See the "Can I go back to my old account if I change my mind?" section at https://fedi.tips/transferring-your-mastodon-account-to-another-server/

@PaulaToThePeopleIs this just with posts on centralised platforms like Threads, Bsky and Flipboard or is this happening with posts from decentralised platforms too?)
