@wdormann @james_inthe_box @GossiTheDog So how many Rohingya did Zuck kill?
@skinnylatte but I never thought the leopards would eat my face!
@zzt Hey, Linus, I think this qualifies as you having been hit by a bus.
I just hope the next guy isn't as bad. (yes, the contingency has been planned for, so I'm not so optimistic on this front---chosen successors tend to hew closely to their predecessor's worldview)
@statsguy From pictures of crap stage mentalists ("Oracle" guy... what is he, the 39 steps?) to bad puppeteer (Nvdia guy) and all the other tropes in between. When is the Sorcerer's Apprentice going to get his comeuppance?
@futurebird It also has a meaning in infosec, when working with indicators of compromise. AFAIUI, anyway. I think in the sense that you might "pivot to effective altruism" to learn more about HG. If he was a threat actor.
(disclaimer: I'm not an infosec guy, but I've done a bit of reading in related areas)
@Viss and also b3ta, I have to admit
@Viss oh, and even though you didn't commit the crime... alt.possessive.its.has.no.apostrophe
@Viss Heh. I was going to complain and say that "hey! I was trained on 4chan and fark and I didn't turn out too bad!"
Anyway, as you were... yahoo answers...
@ariadne This isn't just a city for your agents to live in... it's the shape of Steve to come.
@sundogplanets Just thinking about this from another perspective. There was that "line", I think, city that some nutters were going to build in the desert. May both those people and the Cowboy Bebop crowd both read Larry Niven's ringworld and just managed to capture enough vc to fund the prospectus?
More fool them.
@skinnylatte ... on a tangential note... matchmaking. It still goes on the world over, doesn't it? Here's one near me...

(who knows, though... it might still be preferable to for-profit internet dating sites)
@skinnylatte I know that polyandry used to be a thing in Tibet, while polygyny used to be a thing among Mormons (and others). My guess is that these things were more about social/economic/religious reasons than anything remotely to do with agency.
On the face of it, it looks like it might be an equality thing, but then I see the pic of the guy who's proposing it. Maybe he's just doing it to stir up anti-Muslim sentiment? I don't really know. Anything.
(and I also think that "marriage isn't a word; it's a sentence")
@0xabad1dea Meanwhile, in Ireland after a rise in injuries and deaths involving e-scooters (most, it seems, involving other vehicles, though that doesn't seem to be reported as much), the establishment seems to have decided that they need harsher laws against e-scooter, e-bike users and cyclists in general.
@futurebird I hear that Adam Smith is considering changing the byline on the next edition of his Wealth Of Nations.... to Alan Smithee.
@pallenberg I guess that by that (musk's) logic, he wouldn't mind giving me half an emerald mine?
@dbattistella I did it every single year that "Lost in The Supermarket" topped Fanning's Fab Fifty.
